Planning a Day Out of Melbourne
Most of Victoria's best destinations sit between one and three hours from the CBD, which makes them comfortable as full-day trips but awkward on public transport and expensive by rideshare once you factor in the return leg. One booking covers the whole day. The vehicle stays with you, waits at each stop, and brings you home. Nobody has to nominate a designated driver, which matters more than anything else on a wine tour.
Wine Country
The Yarra Valley is the classic choice, around an hour from the city, with cellar doors clustered closely enough to visit three or four in a day. The Mornington Peninsula pairs vineyards with hot springs and coastline, which suits groups where not everyone is there for the wine.
Coast and Wildlife
The Great Ocean Road is a long day, and worth treating as one instead of rushing, the Twelve Apostles are around four hours out. Phillip Island is closer and built around the evening Penguin Parade, so the timing runs backwards from sunset.
Historic and Spa Country
Ballarat offers goldfields heritage and grand streetscapes, while Daylesford is Victoria's spa town, popular for slower weekend trips. Geelong works both as a destination and as the gateway to the Bellarine Peninsula.
How Long Should You Book?
As a rule of thumb, allow eight hours for the Yarra Valley or Mornington Peninsula, ten to twelve for the Great Ocean Road, and six to eight for Phillip Island depending on the season's penguin timing. If your plans are loose, an hourly as-directed booking is usually the better structure, since you can add or drop stops on the day.
What a Day Costs
Short regional tours start at $299, in Australian dollars and including GST. Longer and custom days are quoted on their own, because ten hours along the Great Ocean Road and a half day around Daylesford are not the same trip. A tour day is priced as a tour rather than at our hourly rates, and your quote sets out what it includes.
